Save Money with Preventative Pet Care

February 08, 2018

At Animal Medical Center, our Midlothian veterinarian takes great pride in being the area's trusted vet practice for providing the highest standard of care at all stages of a pet's life.

Our veterinary team believes strongly in the importance of preventative care services to help your pet lead the healthiest and happiest life possible. If it's been more than a year since your pet's last preventative care appointment, it's time to schedule one with our caring and compassionate 24-hour vet.

Preventative Care Services From Our Animal Hospital

The most basic form of preventative care that you should provide for your pet is that of an annual wellness exam in our office. Even if your pet seems perfectly healthy and doesn't show any signs of medical issues, an annual exam gives us an opportunity to complete a thorough physical exam for your pet and be on the lookout for any changes in his or her health, as well as any signs of underlying issues.

In addition to annual exams, make sure your pet is up-to-date on all vaccinations as well. This is something we can complete as part of your pet's exam with us; keeping your pet updated on vaccinations is important for a number of reasons. For starters, these vaccines protect your pet from serious and potentially fatal illnesses and diseases, including rabies. Furthermore, many vaccines are required in order to bring your pet into a groomer, boarding facility, or even to take your dog to a local dog park.

Another form of preventative care we like to emphasize at our animal hospital is that of routine dental cleanings and exams. Your pet's oral health is extremely important, and pets who don't have routine cleanings are prone to gum disease, which can cause permanent tooth loss and make it difficult (or even painful) for your pet to eat.

At Animal Medical Center, we believe in the importance of preventative care in protecting your pet from disease, injury, and a reduced quality of life. With the right level of preventative care, you may be able to prevent the need for serious veterinary surgery or other emergency treatment. However, should your pet ever need this type of care, our emergency vet in Midlothian is here to help.
